Throughout the 2005 season Eric displayed a growing interest in karting and began racing in the 2006 season. Eric started in the Yamaha Junior Can class using the Comet chassis Evan raced in 2005 and later switched to a Margay chassis. In 2007 Eric moved to the Spec TaG Senior, and finished second place in points! For 2008 he changed to an Arrow AX-9 and raced the TaG Sportsman class, and finished second place in points.
Eric made a big move in 2009 to a new Zanardi shifter kart with a DDR Stock Moto Honda. Eric won the first two KRA races against a field of experienced shifter kart drivers; however, he finished second place in points - again! He finished the year by participating in the SKUSA SuperNats in Las Vegas (along side of the best karters in the world including Michael Schumacher, Dan Weldon and Sebastien Buemi).
In the 2010 season Eric competed against is older brother Evan throughout the season. They both raced the KRA Shifter class, and both raced select SKUSA and GLPS races. Eric continued to hone his skills throughout the season. In July he raced in the SKUSA Summer Nationals and two weeks later attended the Skip Barber Formula Car School at Road America. By the end of the year lead the most laps in several races and almost won the TaG World Finals Shifter Class (a close second to Josh Lane). Eric was also the crew chief for Milka Duno and James Davison for their 2010 RoboPong race.
Eric had an outstanding season in 2011 as he won the KRA Shifter Championship and Stock Moto Class of the TaG World Finals. For 2012 Eric will change to a DR S97 chassis.
Eric is a graduate of Noblesville High School and is attending Ball State University. His other hobbies include golf, music and fishing.

"Both
Evan and Eric are the young men of great character, on and off the
track. They both have a strong under-standing of the fundamentals of
kart chassis setup and driving. I've worked closely with Evan on
projects for both National Kart News and MKP and he's been a great
asset in terms of both professionalism and knowledge. I look
forward to working with Evan and Eric for years to come in karting!
"I have enjoyed working with Evan and Eric Batt. Evan has
already proven his driving skills. He impresses me with his
methodical analysis setting up a kart and driving the kart with an
awareness of where he is, and where he needs to be. Eric this season
has shown so much improvement. Eric has matured to become a talented
driver and tuner" quote by Jay Vormwald. (2008)
